I was provided an electronic copy by these talented ladies, and my daughter and I have been enjoying it. queen girls; modern fairy tale seriesIt is a fairytale version of the real life of Elizabeth "Bessie" Coleman. Bessie faced much adversity in her quest to become a pilot. She was an African American girl from a small town in the early 1900's. Most people believed her dream was impossible and mocked her for attempting it.  But Bessie had the passion, dedication, and confidence to persevere and overcome the obstacles in her way. She eventually became the first female African American pilot in the world.  Now that's a role model for my daughter. Queen girls book seriesIn this modern fairy tale, Bessie's life story is told in language that children can relate to alongside beautiful dream-like images.
